FAT DUCK

SYDNEY

A 20 seat café in a small L-shaped space. The design makes the most of the available area by placing a servery and espresso area centrally between two seating wings. Each wing has a leather banquette seat lining one wall. The front wing has a window to the street, faces a series of illuminated display cubes and is backed by a toned aluminium leaf wall. The rear wing has a full wall mirror at its end to enhance the perceived space and is backed by an elephant grey wall illuminated by a custom made horizontal lighting pelmet.

The space is unified by a bright white raked ceiling and a burnt orange linoleum floor. A theme of rotated “L” shapes is woven through the forms of various elements. Suspended adjustable grid lights focus attention on merchandise.
